Comic Books, Cartooning, and Anime

Unleash your creativity with our thrilling Comic Books, Cartooning, and Anime course! Dive into the world of entertaining design, comics, storytelling, and character development. Get ready for exhilarating lessons that effortlessly enhance your drawing and creative skills.

This class explores the “Art of Storytelling”, a sequential storyboarding exploration.
Students use their own concepts and creative thinking while developing their characters, and environments into a selected format.

Mark instructs the individual students and their projects independently as they build concepts and begin the story boarding process. He presents methods of production throughout classes as well as understanding foundation drawing skills.
Each class, has students tapping into their imagination, developing drawing skills, working in pencil, ink, markers, and colored pencils.

Students should come prepared with their own markers and or colored pencils, sharpies (Fine, and ultra fine points) Micron ink pens.

In the first class I will give students further details as to which brands are best.
Additionally, a portfolio is recommended-I will advise in the first class.

EEA Rocks (4-sessions)
Intermediate to Advanced Players

EEA Rocks is our inaugural band directed by Music Director Chris Jones and Assistant Director Natalia Rahim. The rehearsals run continuously in the Fall/ Winter and Winter/Spring, with a special session in the summer. The goal is to perfect a set of music to be used in multiple performances throughout the year. The students work on mastering skills such as; playing together as a band, timing, and most importantly, performance and stage presence.

All students are required to be proficient at an intermediate to advanced level in an instrument of choice in order to participate.: vocals, guitar, bass, drums, keys, violin, or horns (all instruments are welcome).

Studio Art is an open studio class, similar to our successful Ultimate Studio class on Saturdays. Each class helps you build your skills in multiple mediums of art. This unique studio class will delve into the basics of drawing and painting. Each session the student concentrates on different styles, paint mediums, and subject matter, mastering a portrait, then a figure, then still life, then abstract, and maybe landscape too. This class is suited for all levels and works as a true studio class. Each person walks away with a sense of accomplishment and determination, with improved skills to push them even further in their art journey. The goal is to complete a fantastic art piece each session.

Please bring your own supplies, canvas, paints, paper, etc. Easels, brushes, and other basic supplies will be provided. If you wish to utilize EEA supplies, you will be charged an additional $5.00 per class.

It encourages people to dust off their old guitar or borrow one of the EEAs’ available guitars to learn how to play. The class is led by Zach, who will introduce the guitar to the group and teach them basic chords and strumming techniques.

The class is structured to teach participants how to play simple songs and explore the guitar’s make-up to get a feel for its performance. The focus is on developing musical skills and having fun in a social setting with other beginners. The class size is small, with a maximum of 6 students per session, which allows for more personalized instruction and attention.

The class runs for 8 weeks, with sessions that likely include weekly meetings or lessons. Manga Art
In this course, students will work on creating Manga pages based on a story of their choice using the principles learned in class.
Through completing the assigned tasks students will gain a better understanding of what it takes to develop entertaining design and comics, storytelling, and character development.
The lessons are designed to be fun and aid and facilitate the acquisition of drawing and creative skills

Concept Art
Students will learn the process of developing and designing characters, and environments, for comics, games, and professional industries, from collecting and researching reference material and images to developing a fully realized character of their own creation.
This introductory class is intended to be fun and informative towards drawing, creating, and discovering worlds and stories students want to tell. The students are encouraged to bring their own unique talents and skills, including electronic devices such as a tablet or laptop with drawing capabilities and software. All levels of ability are welcome.

Illustration
Students take a contemporary approach to traditional techniques and are encouraged to bring electronic devices such as a tablet or laptops with drawing capabilities and software. Students will choose an area of interest and develop areas of emphasis in drawing, composition, and storytelling. Students will develop an attention to detail, and an understanding of human and animal anatomy and design, to tell or illustrate a narrative. All levels of ability are welcome.

Mark will work with each student according to which class they are interested in. The classes will be kept small so he can give each student guidance and individual attention through all phases.
