A Splash of Color, a Watercolor Workshop

Starting Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 | 4:00PM–6:00PM EDT | Carriage House, 1st Floor

A Splash of Color, a Watercolor Workshop
with Eileen Kelly

Embrace the power of self-expression while exploring the world of watercolor. Immerse yourself in this serene, stress-busting, beginner-friendly workshop as we experiment with water, pigments, and paper.

A splash, a splatter, it doesn’t matter, as you’re introduced to painting fundamentals and watercolor techniques. Designed to inspire an enjoyable creative experience while allowing the stress of the day to drift away.
Inspired by the colors and textures of nature, each class will begin by introducing a new technique, idea, or application. You are then free to use your time on creating the new, suggested project or continue your work on a prior project. Whatever your inspiration, you will be supported with encouragement, suggestion, and individual attention.

Weather permitting, we will have the choice to paint outdoors with nature, on the beautiful grounds at East End Arts and the Peconic River. Through ‘En Plein Air’ painting, [French for ‘in the open air’] we restore our energy and renew our spirit. It is also a good place to try out our new techniques, experiment, and take a chance.

Materials: Bring any watercolor supplies you have.
Suggestions if needed:
Paper: Arches Cold Press 140lb [my preference] watercolor paper 8 x 10 or 11 x 14 block or pad
Watercolor paint: ½ pan palette set [Student grade is fine such as Cotman travel sets]. If you use tube paint then you need to also have a palette tray with mixing wells.
Brushes: A few small, short handle synthetic brushes such as #6, #8 round [a flat or filbert if you have], 1” bristle brush for wash.

Time: Thursdays 4 – 6 pm.
May 23; June 6, 13, 20, 27; July 11, 25; August 1, 8, 15, 22, 2024
No Class May 30, July 4 and July 18, 2024

Select the dates you will be taking the class (in questions).
