Calling all passionate musicians! Elevate your musical prowess with the Harmony Heights String Quartet, an exhilarating opportunity for teens and adults at the East End Arts Music School. Under the expert guidance of Lisa Casal-Galietta, this quartet invites you to dive into the rich tapestry of classical and contemporary string music. Whether you’re a seasoned player or looking to rekindle your musical passion, our ensemble provides a supportive and collaborative environment. Unleash your musical potential and join the Harmony Heights String Quartet for a harmonious experience that transcends age and celebrates the power of collective artistry.

Class Outline

1. Class coaching will be one hour weekly. Students will also be asked to rehearse together on their own weekly outside of the school.
2. Students will be required to learn at least one movement from the string quartet repertoire chosen by the instructor, to be performed at the end of the semester.
3. Students must commit to practicing and learning their individual parts on their own time, and come prepared to each coaching session.
4. Students must come to their coaching on time equipped with their instrument, rosin, shoulder rest or rock stops, sheet music, or music on fully charged tablet, and a pencil every week.

Objectives

1. Students will gain a better understanding of how to work with other musicians in a chamber music setting.
2. Students will learn string quartet repertoire covering diverse genres and styles in music.
3. Students will learn historical context of the composers and the time period in which they are playing, as well as musical terminology connected to the music.
