Music Masters Intensive Program

One-on-one mentoring with a master musicians

This six week tuition-free music program is for 7th-12th graders who want to work with a master musician to improve skills and develop abilities in performance. The immersive, small group jazz experience brings together peers who do not normally play together under the instruction of a professional muscian and eductator, and culminates to a live performance. Musicians of all instruments suitable for jazz and vocalists are welcome to apply.

Program Schedule and Performance

Music Masters sessions are held every Thursday from February 26 through March 26, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 206 Griffing Avenue.
The final student performance will take place on Thursday, April 2 at 7:00 PM at the Jamesport Meeting House.

This Year’s Music Master: Olivia Foschi

Olivia Foschi

The 2026 Music Master is Olivia Foschi, accompanied by Bill Smith. Italo-American jazz singer and composer Olivia Foschi discovered her passion for jazz while studying guitar and music theory in high school. In 2001 she was given the opportunity to study classical Neapli voice with singer and composer Aavaas in Kathmandu and shifted her approach to vocals paying paticular attention to color and rhythm. After obtaining a degree in English Literature, Olivia went on to study jazz voice at the University of Music in Rome and subsequently pursued undergraduate studies in Jazz Performance through Middlesex University at the Music Academy in Bologna.

With three albums to her credit, and several others as a featured artist, her latest release “A Window Within” (2024) has gained international recognition and cemented her place in the jazz world. Olivia consistently weaves together the rich tapestries of her multicultural upbringing with her profound passion for jazz. She is described as “an artist with an elegant style and distinct musical vision” by Hrayr Attarian, All About Jazz, and ‘truly original and far from the norm as a composer and as a vocalist” by H. Allen Williams, Jazz Times.

Olivia has performed in festivals and on major stages throughout the United States, Europe, Japan, sharing the stage with esteemed muscians including Gill Goldstein, Thruman Barker, Ulysses Owens Jr., Gregoire Maret, Chris White, Jr., Joseph Jarman, Alex Sipiagin, Helio Alves, Tommy Campbell, Bill O’Connell, and Yotam Silberstein, among many others. The Music Master Program is open to all high school students across Long Island school districts and is tuition free. Students will work alongside other exceptional young musicians while learning directly from a world-class professional. All instruments and vocalists are welcome, and we are excited to continue building a complete ensemble, including a full horn section.

Through one-on-one mentorship and ensemble experiences, students receive hands-on training in rehearsal and performance, as well as exposure to recording, marketing, composition, and songwriting. Participants leave with meaningful professional relationships and portfolio-ready materials that support their future musical and academic pursuits, all at no cost to them.
