East End Arts Council

Our Temporary Move, Same Mission and Creative Community

Find our school & offices at 206 Griffing Ave., Riverhead as of Now.

Our Fine Arts Gallery remains at 133 E. Main St., Riverhead through the end of 2025.

Riverhead’s historic Main Street is on the cusp of revitalization, and East End Arts & Humanities Council has temporarily relocated its operations to allow for necessary construction on our campus and surrounding areas.

While we’re excited for this, we understand that transitions raise questions. Consider this page your go-to source for accurate, up-to-date information as we prepare for our next chapter and feel free to contact us any time with questions.

Where Have We Moved?

Our new temporary home for the Art & Music School and Administration Offices:

206 Griffing Avenue, Riverhead, NY AKA the Town Hall Annex building, on the corner of Griffing Ave. and W. 2nd St. Just one block off Main St. and a short distance from our current location, we are still close and connected to the evolving Arts District.

The main entrance to 206 Griffing Ave. is from the Town Hall courtyard on the W. 2nd St. side. Visitors can park on the street [please mind parking sign rules] or in the Town Hall parking lot, off Roanoke Ave, with a short walk to the main entrance. The walkways and courtyard are well-lit and have security cameras for your safety.

When Is the Move Happening?

We are vacating our current campus buildings, with the exception of the Andy Tarshis Fine Art Gallery space, at the end of summer 2025. All administration offices are now located in the new space, and we are on target to reopen the Art & Music School for fall semester on September 15, 2025

The Andy Tarshis Fine Art Gallery is set to stay operating at 133 E. Main St. for the remainder of 2025.

Adam Strauss, a solo exhibition that blends beauty with reflection, opens at the Andy Tarshis Fine Art Gallery on September 20, 2025.

ENTANGLED, an open juried fiber art exhibition curated by Sherry Davis and Tom Cugliani, opens at the 11 West Gallery on September 20, 2025.

Why the Move?

The Town of Riverhead and private developers are beginning construction work on our long-time home as part of a broader improvement plan that includes preservation of our historically landmarked structures. The EEAC buildings are being lifted to sidewalk level, the ancillary buildings are being repositioned closer to Main St., and landfill is being added to the entire property to create a slope toward the river. These changes are critical to flood mitigation and complementary to the surrounding development, which includes a new Town Square and community amphitheater.

With the exception of a short moving period surrounding Labor Day, we’ll continue our operations, offering programs, classes, and events from our new temporary location beginning September 15, 2025.

When Do We Move Back?

As with any construction project, it is hard to accurately declare a completion date at this preliminary stage. The current projection for EEAC’s move back to its elevated and improved campus is in about 3 years. Projections will be updated here as we receive them.

How Can You Help?
