Enriching and Connecting People of All Abilities Through the Arts

East End Arts & Humanities Council believes creativity belongs to and enriches the lives of everyone. Arts for ALL provides programs that make the arts accessible to children, adults, and families of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Designed with inclusivity at the core, these experiences welcome individuals with physical, developmental, and cognitive disabilities through adaptive and sensory-friendly activities in a safe environment by professional, caring educators. Custom experiences are also tailored for marginalized groups such as veterans and senior citizens. Programs are process-based and developmentally appropriate. Aides are encouraged to join in.

From ongoing art classes to music workshops to performances to community art projects, Arts for ALL builds connection, confidence, and creativity—ensuring everyone can benefit from creative expression and artmaking.

Visual Arts:

  • Meet the Masters: Designed specifically for inter-generational learners and individuals with differing abilities, this weekly experience allows students to discover and learn from a famous artist, creating their own version of a masterpiece in each class.
  • Fantastic Art Time: This after-school and weekend class allows students to explore creativity beyond the art-learning standards found in the school classroom. Students experiment with multidisciplinary techniques to try new things and learn what inspires them.
  • 3D Art: In this hands-on series, each class highlights a different sculptural medium—such as clay, wood, and recycled materials. Students discover a variety of techniques to transform their two-dimensional ideas into fully realized 3-D creations, encouraging confidence, curiosity, and creative expression.

Music:

  • East End Idol: Students discover and learn songs from famous musicians in these fun group music classes. They combine vocal singalongs with percussion instruments and are designed for superstars of differing abilities with any level of musical experience to teach confidence and performance. Each semester ends with a talent show!
  • Bandspace: These monthly jam sessions are for students of all abilities who have some experience with an instrument or vocals and want to explore playing in a group. Bandspace provides a safe, expressive space and expert guidance to grow skills and confidence. Look for Bandspace for Veterans, Bandspace for Teens, and more.
  • Improvisational Ensemble Course: A series of eight progressive classes designed to build musical skills, trust, and creative expression through fun-filled lessons using sound, call and response, shapes and colors, rhythm, texture, storytelling, and shifts in volume, energy, and pace. No experience is necessary, and all experience is welcome.

Storytelling:

  • Playbuilding: This long-running series is an interactive experience for a group of students to build communication skills by creating and performing a theatrical production. Students learn about various elements of performance, and how to use their voices and bodies on the stage. Theatre games and activities using movement and music generate content for the play. The series ends with a final performance!
  • Life Writing: In this series of 8 cumulative classes, students learn to express their personal stories through writing by structuring a memoir. They give shape to their memories and experiences through thoughtful expert guidance. Student work is optionally eligible to be published in a local newspaper.

Arts for ALL programs are available for individuals or can be designed for groups, both on and offsite. EEAC works with agencies, day programs, and self-directed pay individuals.
