Renaissance Summer Camp 2009
GENERAL INFORMATION
Staff
Counselors are chosen for their expertise, dedication and enthusiasm with children. Both camps maintain a comfortable ratio of counselors to children; RK Camp 1:8, RJ Camp 1:5.
Snack & Lunch
Daily snacks are provided. Campers bring their own lunch in an insulated container.
Before & After Care
Early morning care is available between 8:30-9:30AM, and after care between 3:00-5:00PM for both camps. After care consists of modified camp activities. All before and after care must be scheduled and paid in advance.
Transportation
Transportation is the responsibility of the parent; however, a carpool list is maintained for interested families.
Registration
Registration begins February 1, 2009. $200 non-refundable deposit is required at registration. For registration forms and information, call the School of the Arts at 631-369-2171 or click here for forms.
Scholarships
A limited number of scholarships are available, based on financial need. An application can be requested by calling the School of the Arts. Deadline for application is May 15.

RENAISSANCE
KID CAMP
Age: 8-12 years
July 13-August 7
Monday-Friday 9:30AM-3:00PM

Early Morning Care 8:30-9:30AM: $7 per day
After Care 3:00-5:00PM: $10 per day
A four-week interdisciplinary experience in the arts where the camp format allows campers to take part in designing their own program based on their creative interests.
Campers begin the day with music and song in the Renaissance Kid Camp Choir. Mornings are then spent in their chosen major area of concentration in either Fine Arts or Performing Arts. Campers attend their major each morning for the full four weeks, providing for in-depth study.
Afternoons include a choice of two workshops per week. Workshop selections vary each week and provide campers the opportunity to try new artistic skills. Workshop selections may include; poetry, monologue, voice, theatrical directing, printmaking, sculpture, musical ensemble, African drumming and dance.
Camp ends with a performance and art show for family and friends. Two-week camp sessions can be scheduled upon request, space permitting.
Renaissance Kid Camp is held at the beautiful eastern campus of Suffolk County Community College located at 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road in Riverhead with easy access from either of the forks and the LIE. All education rooms are air-conditioned and the extensive campus grounds are available for outdoor activities.
RENAISSANCE
JUNIOR CAMP
Age: 5-7 years

A two-week program where the young camper is introduced to a broad range of artistic and creative experiences through a camp-wide theme. The small group size provides for a non-threatening camp experience with lots of personal attention.
Each day includes visual arts with painting, sculpting and craft activities, music where campers sing, dance and try musical instruments, and theatre, which includes stories, puppetry, role playing, character creation and other dramatic play activities.
On the last day the campers perform and show off their creations to family and friends.
A half-day option, for those wishing a shorter day, is available upon request. Half-day does not include theatre.
Renaissance Junior Camp is held at the East End Arts Council School of the Arts, located at 141 East Main Street in Riverhead. The School of the Arts offers a home-like setting with comfortable air-conditioned rooms and fenced-in park-like grounds for outdoor play.
