The East End Arts Council is the Long Island administrative site for the Strategic Opportunities Stipend (SOS) program, a project of the
New York Foundation for the Arts, designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of unique opportunities that may
significantly benefit their career. This program provides over $10,000/year to artists, musicians,
writers and dancers (etc) to further their professional careers. Other services to artists of all disciplines include:
- Grant writing workshops for artists and educators.
- Regular EEAC Gallery Opening Receptions provide networking opportunities to meet other artists and patrons of the arts.
- Professional development
workshops for artists.
- Our highly trained staff have many years' experience and education within the art and music fields. We can provide guidance and referrals to member artists on a wide range of topics and issues.
- Our gallery hosts 250+ visitors monthly, providing great display publicity for local artists.
- Member artists can apply to sell items in our Gallery Gift Shop, which is fully staffed.
- Display opportunities for 450+ artists through our 8+ juried shows per year.
- We maintain an artist & musician registry at our Gallery which provides information to prospective buyers, as well
as background for media inquiries.
- Free website directory listing with pictures, for visual artists - at our Artist Blog. Also, text links on the Artist Links page.
- 8 juried shows per year get artists' work noticed by professionals in the art field, including gallery owners, museum curators, and art collectors and critics.
- We curate two other local gallery displays, at the Jamesport Manor Inn Rosalie Dimon Gallery, and the Riverhead Town Hall. Both provide opportunities for member artists to show their work.
- A free weekly email update for members lists upcoming arts opportunities, and members can advertise shows or services in it.
- We coordinate public events such as the Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival which draws over 5,000 visitors to the East End, and provides sale opportunities for artists, and performance time for musicians.
- Artists and members can benefit from our free professional publicity for their achievements, sent out regularly to media outlets such as newspapers including local and the NY Times, TV, online and radio announcements.
- A seasonal print newsletter is direct-mailed to members and distributed across the East End and at all Suffolk County public libraries.
